Vocal Cordectomy

Vocal cordectomy means laser surgery to the vocal cords, and is a specialized approach for removal of benign, malignant, or premalignant lesions from the vocal cords. Vocal cordectomy is a very effective treatment for early stage vocal cord cancers, or pre-cancerous lesions, and can avoid the need for radiotherapy in such patients.  Laser vocal cord surgery has the great advantage of being performed as a day-case procedure, and a single procedure may be curative.  Professor Sheahan has performed over 300 laser surgeries for malignant and premalignant vocal cord lesions.
